GSPCB notified regarding the Safe Management and Disposal Methods for Hazardous Waste Generated by Goa's Industries

EHS ComplianceThe Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) on July 11, 2025, notified regarding the Safe Management and Disposal Methods for Hazardous Waste Generated by Goa's Industries.

The following has been stated namely: -

• It states that various industries in Goa produce hazardous waste, which shall be managed in an environmentally sound manner as per the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016. Approved disposal methods include recycling, co-processing, incineration, and landfilling. 

• It granted renewed and expanded consent to M/s. Ponda Envocare Limited (PEL), located in Pissurlem Industrial Estate, operates a secured landfill, incineration unit, and pre-processing facility for such waste. 

• As the facility is now fully equipped to handle landfillable, incinerable, and utilizable hazardous waste, all industries in Goa shall henceforth use this authorized facility for waste disposal. 

• Movement of hazardous waste outside the state is strictly prohibited unless prior written approval is obtained from the GSPCB under Rule 16. This move ensures centralized, safe, and regulated hazardous waste treatment within the state.
